Related: About this forumWatching The Holiday....pretty fun so far, but am so pissed my remote is dying....have called my
cable, and yes I still have cable, about it 3 times within the last 3 days!!! I have received 3 different corrections to fix the problem. Have kept my cable only because they are local, ya know two counties away. But am so pissed.......now I have no volume or mute and as previously cant turn the tv off. At least I have the option to change channels and fast forward with this movie I am watching. I am soooooooooooo pissed, and whats hilarious??? My remote is a gawd damn fire stick FROM GAWD DAMN AMAZON!!!!! Yah, our small town cable company hooked us up about 1.5 years ago with these new remotes!!!! Damn, damn, damn. So now im stuck with a remote that doesnt allow mute, or volume increase or decrease, and I swear Im afraid to turn it off, because when Ive done it before??? I CANT TURN IT BACK ON. So, here I am watching the pretty cute movie The Holiday with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black.....and I cant hear them, I do have the closed captioning which helps, but damn. HAVE I MENTIONED THAT I AM SO PISSED!!!! Now I have to buy a new remote from amazon, thats what the 3rd advisor guy told me. Ugh.....im old, I just want my remote to work....I am so missing the days when we just had 3 channels to chose from, ABC, CBS, & NBC. Life was so much easier then. *sigh*

(446 posts)Did you check the batteries in your remote? Sometimes it is possible to have one good and one weak battery. Your Fire Stick can operate intermittently or not at all with weak batteries (AAA batteries). The Fire Stick is just a wireless transmitter that controls your TV.
If that is not the problem, maybe disconnect power to your cable modem and the Fire Stick television connector (HDMI port) for a couple of minutes and then start the system again. It may resolve itself with a reboot (fresh start).
Good luck and hopefully it is something simple so you can watch holiday movies!
