Mini-Grant Funding Available to Support Environmental Education in Appalachian Ohio Now Available
Educators and Nonprofits Invited to Apply to
AEP Access to Environmental Education Fund
Mini-grant funding is now available for educators and nonprofits looking to introduce youth to the environment. These mini-grants have supported varied projects and lessons across the region. In 2013, students at New Philadelphia High School developed Forest Stories through their biology class. As part of their research and field work, the high school students also developed stories to teach kindergarteners about science, insect species, and the environment.
The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio is now once again inviting applications from educators and 501(c)(3) organizations throughout the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio for projects in which youth participate in learning experiences linked to local natural resources and then share the lessons they learn with their communities.
The mini-grants are available through the Foundation’s AEP Access to Environmental Education Fund, a fund established to create a permanent source of support for environmental education. Applications are now being accepted from public school and community organizations for projects focused on environmental education for youth.
Approximately $23,000 in funding is available for awards ranging from $500 to $1,500. All applications must be submitted by Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Proposals will be reviewed by the Foundation’s Grants Committee who will make funding recommendations.
