Oregon saw too much marijuana in 2024 amid 'disadvantaged' market, OLCC report says

Beau Whitney, a Portland-based economist, is calling for a reset in Oregon's cannabis regulations

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Oregon’s recreational marijuana industry is continuing to see an oversupply issue, leading to record-low prices for consumers but tighter margins for Oregon’s “disadvantaged” market, according to a new Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission report.

According to the report, which was released February 1, Oregon harvested almost 12.3 million pounds of marijuana in 2024, marking a 4% increase from the 2021. The abundant harvest is thanks, in part, to ideal growing conditions in southern Oregon, officials said.

However, demand only met 57% of supply in 2024, the OLCC estimates.
