Senators receive affidavit containing new allegations against Pete Hegseth - MSNBC Reports

Senators have received an affidavit from the former sister-in-law of Pete Hegseth, President Trump's nominee to serve as Secretary of Defense, that says his behavior caused his second wife to fear for her safety. NBC News' Julie Tsirkin reports from Capitol Hill as Hegseth and his attorney deny the allegations as he awaits Senate confirmation. - Aired on 01/21/2025.

who will vote no. He is not even remotely qualified, and now we know he is an abuser of women.

Would Republicans' "loyalty to TFG" really be worth it?? The guy has absolutely no qualifications and he initially said that women don't belong in combat - and you're right, he certainly shouldn't be making decisions about female military.

"It's frankly an insult and really troubling that Mr. Trump would nominate someone who has admitted that he paid off a victim who has claimed rape allegations against him...This is not the kind of person you want to lead the Department of Defense."

This new allegation was made in a signed affidavit from Hegseth's former sister-in-law.
"In the affidavit, Danielle Hegseth said she believes Hegseth's marriage to Samantha was abusive. She said Samantha in 2014 told her she once hid in her closet because she feared for her safety." (AP)

In 2018, during his divorce proceedings from Samantha, "his mother, Penelope Hegseth, sent him an email criticizing his treatment of women. The email stated: ' You are an abuser of women - that is the ugly truth'." (Wikipedia)

Let's hope that this abuser of women isn't confirmed by the full Senate.
