Rachel Maddow reports on the nation-wide chaos that followed the Trump administration freezing billions in federal funds with little warning, and the public backlash over the vital services disrupted as a result of the Trump administration's desire to dismantle the federal government by pushing out federal workers and slashing support for federal programs that sent Trump backpedaling to make exceptions and excuses for his overreach. - Aired on 01/28/2025.

(30,409 posts)I know that he was putting lives at risk today... but what if we just allow him to "kill the government" and have his little dictatorship.
FAFO... for the MAGAts.
remember the idiot MAGAt with the sign "keep the government out of my Social Security!".
Just maybe we should let whoever is behind all this ( it ain't Trump ), whether it's Eloon or Stephen Miller or Bannon, to have their day in the sun. Let me end all "socialist" programs and deport all the undocumented, end birthright citizenship, take away Social Security, pass another big tax cut for the tech bro billionaires. Hire only whites for management jobs... do whatever the hell they want.
Yes, FAFO... it will possibly end America. Or just maybe the MAGAts will finally come to understand that this bullshit hurts them too. Hurts them so much ( price of eggs you say... what about the price of all produce that will remain in the fields or get picked by people making $15/hour or more) that their crappy job in their crappy rural town doesn't give them enough to eat. Some will remain in the cult no matter what, right up to the purple koolaid moment... but maybe, just maybe, enough will get out so that Trump and his whole crew are actually tossed out on their ears ( or worse ).
That was the FAFO strategy.
Now, because of some over reach by Trump, we will once again let him off the hook once he restores, say, 80 percent of the spending... and we LET HIM cut 20 percent of the money and 20 percent of the federal workforce, end DEI, and try to buy Greenland and we all feel like we "won a big battle" because he backed down on SNAP and Medicaid, etc.
But he gets to end the green energy incentives in the inflation reduction act and he gets to stop the majority of the projects in the infrastructure deal... things we really very badly need.
