International tourists decide against visiting Trump's America - DW News

International tourism to the U.S. taken a hit since the start of the Trump administration. Global trade tensions are playing a part, but many travelers are also put off by strict border controls and harrowing stories of random arrests. Germans are among those caught up in Trump's migration crackdown.

The number of visitors from Canada, formerly the biggest source of international tourists to the U.S., has declined steeply, with many joining a boycott against the U.S., following Trump's threats to annex Canada.

DW spoke to one Canadian who says she won't be visiting the U.S. again until Trump is out of office. - Aired on 04/18/2025.

It is not safe here.

We don't know what is happening in this country from minute to minute.

The trump administration and trump cult don't believe in democracy. In fact they are anti-democracy.

The trump administration is intentionally trying to destroy the government, universities, libraries, public schools, Medicaid, Medicare,

Social Security, The Kennedy Center, The Smithsonian, etc..

They don't believe in The Separation of Church and State.

You can be snatched off the street, from your home, from your school, from your church and whisked off to another country

with zero due process.

They have insulted and threatened our allies and cozied up to the world's dictators.

The courts are infested with cult members.

The non existent republican party is afraid of trump and his cult so they side with trump as he continues to destroy

everything good about this country.

They have threatened Canada, Greenland, Mexico, and Panama.

They have declared Ukraine started the war with Russia.

They are stripping away women's rights state after state.

They are effecting the stock market (maybe illegally) and causing chaos.

They have told their cult tariffs are paid by foreign countries.

They made up a nonsensical trade deficit chart used to determine tariff amounts. Tariffs were placed on 2 islands with

zero population, only penguins.

If you visit here you are not safe.

I am not safe here.

And I have always been grateful that I was born here, unlike my ancestors who made that perilous journey and found a better life. Would they be welcome here today??

I don't know which one is going to be worse, climate change or the destruction trump and his cult cause.

And we keep hearing that we should have started fighting climate change long ago, that temperatures are breaking records. So his response is to eliminate all the protections that Obama and Biden put in place and to promote drilling, let alone go back to coal?! He may not be around to suffer, but the point is to make life bearable for future generations...
