Trump's tariff plan is 'malpractice,' says former FTC Chair Lina Khan - Velshi - MSNBC

Trump’s sweeping tariffs are marked by “total incoherence” and “malpractice,” warns Lina Khan, the former chair of the Federal Trade Commission. “Families and households are going to see inflated costs while small businesses are going to get decimated– and big firms are going to be best positioned to come out ahead," Khan tells Ali Velshi.

The uncertainty surrounding Trump’s tariffs is paralyzing smaller firms, warns Khan, clearing the way for monopolies and “sweetheart deals” that benefit the well-connected. “The biggest of the big corporations can basically, in backrooms, create trade agreements that punish working Americans [and] small businesses,” she says. - Aired on 04/19/2025.
