It’s fair to say that Trump is spiraling into incoherent dementia. The guy is becoming infantile and losing any ability to think strategically. He seems unable to restrain or cover for his kleptomania, as when he walked off with the FIFA trophy, accepted numerous bribes (including an airliner) in plain view of everyone, or extorted graft from law firms and news agencies. He’s randomly slapping his name on public buildings and erecting monuments to himself. The word insane has no clinical definition, and I certainly wouldn’t absolve him of accountability, but to any reasonable person he appears insane. And he will only get worse.

I expect this will rapidly unravel in the next few months into a national crisis, if not an international one. It could be in weeks. Hopefully it will lead to a unified bipartisan call to restore sanity in the White House before it’s too late (but I’m not holding my breath).

Trump delivered these remarks at the Kennedy Center, apparently because he now thinks he owns it.
