Trump issues insane Nobel Peace Prize update - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen

BTC: Today came one final update in the Nobel Peace Prize saga, and it was anything but peaceful. This is just another day.

Today is the day that Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has been waiting for. She just made international news by gifting Donald Trump her Nobel Peace Prize and now, finally, she could sit back and score her end of the bargain. One prize in exchange for the presidency of Venezuela. the quo to her quid pro quo. So, uh, let's hear it, Donald. Make good on your end of the bargain.

(cut to video outside White House)
Fox News Reporter: Yesterday, you accepted Maria Machado's Nobel Prize medal. What do you intend to do with it? And and why would you want someone else's Nobel Prize?

Trump: Well, she offered it to me, I thought it was very nice. She said, you know, you've ended eight wars and nobody deserves this prize more than in history than you do. And I thought it was a very nice gesture.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Yes. What a nice gesture and such a nice sentiment from her repeating the exact thing Trump has been saying over and over again. It's almost as nice a gesture as the time Trump was honored with his name being added to the Kennedy Center after he stacked the board with his sycophants and they graciously surprised him by voting unanimously to make the thing he demanded happen. But we're off to a good start. So, uh, how about that favor in return El Presidente?

(cut to video outside White House)
Fox News Reporter: Why align with Kelcy Rodriguez and the remnants of the Maduro regime and not with Machado who has the support of the Venezuelan people?

Trump: Well, if you ever uh remember a place called Iraq where everybody was fired, every single person, the police, the generals, everybody was fired and they ended up being ISIS. Instead of just getting down to business, they ended up being ISIS. So, I remember that. But I'll tell you, I had a great meeting yesterday by a person who I have a lot of respect for. This is a fine woman.

(cut to studio)
BTC: What? A fine woman? Machado has spent months kissing Trump's ass. She flew all the way to Washington DC, braved our Sean Duffy approved airspace, gave up her Nobel Prize, the most prestigious award on Earth, because she thought it was her ticket to being the next leader of Venezuela. and all she got in return was she's a fine woman? I'm surprised Trump didn't give her a gold star on her reward chart.

Now, it turns out Maria Corina Machado's gift to Trump and his subsequent celebration of now owning it made enough of a stink overseas with the Nobel Committee that they put out a press release saying the medal and the diploma are the physical symbols confirming that an individual or organization has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The prize itself, the honor and recognition remains inseparably linked to the person or organization designated as the laurate by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

Yes, apparently just because you have the physical trophy, that doesn't mean you're the actual winner. So, fuck eBay because I paid a lot of money to not be an Oscar-winning Olympic medalist with seven degrees from Harvard. By the way, the Nobel Committee has been hinting for quite some time that certain golden haired dictators with swollen ankles and blotchy hands should not be expecting to receive one of their prizes anytime soon.

(cut to video)
Nobel Prize Spokesman: In the long history of the Nobel Peace Prize, I think this committee have seen any type of campaign media attention. We receive thousands and thousands of letters every year of people wanting to say what for them leads to peace. Uh this committee sits in a room filled with the portraits of all laurates and that room is filled with both courage and integrity. So how we base only our decision on the work and the will of Alfred Nobel.

(cut to studio)
BTC: I believe that's what they refer to as a Norwegian mic drop. Not to be confused with the other Norwegian mic drop, which is when you fuck someone boating helmet (series of bleeped words) right after admire the Northern Lights. {Nope, I couldn’t find it in the Urban Dictionary}

But look, in fairness, it's not like Machado is the first person to give away her medal for explicitly political reasons because according to the Guardian, in 1943, the Norwegian writer Knut Hamsun gifted his decoration to Hitler's propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels, as a sign of his admiration for the Nazis.

But look, these are two totally different scenarios because on one hand, you've got a secret police force terrorizing communities, demanding to see people's papers, and shooting those people in the face, all without a fear in the world because their leader is a budding fascist who derives his worth from othering people. And on the other hand, yeah, no, it's it's not different.

Also, look at this guy. Dude gets gifted a Nobel Prize and he still looks miserable {image of Goebbels displayed}. I guess when you look like Steven Miller, there's no prize big enough in the world to make you smile.

Now, you might think that making some historical connection between this administration and the Nazis is a stretch, but might I point you to exhibit what letter comes after a Z?

(cut to video)
Pamela Brown : I want to ask you about the recruitment. You talked about, you know, the training they get. Um, there's an ICE recruiting poster and it read, "We'll Have Our Home Again” that's gone viral. That phrase is cited as having ties to white nationalist groups in the US and Canada and a database of symbols maintained by the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism. I want to let you explain that. And also, even if this is not intentional, do you denounce this if it's connect if if this could be seen as a dog whistle to white supremacist?

Trish McLaughlin: Well, have our home again is now a white nationalist dog whistle? I mean, what are they even what is that a dog whistle to?

(cut to studio)
BTC: I know, right? It's like what or who is even supposed to hear or see that and think they're the ones--oh, wait. Here it is.

(cut to video of J6 protesters marching)
PBS News Reporter: That's a reference to the song “We'll Have Our Home Again,’ a white supremacist anthem favored by the Proud Boys.

(cut to video of Proud Boys singing anthem)
Proud Boys Choir: Oh my god, we'll have our home again. My God, we'll have our home.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Okay, but other than the verbatim words, how can we really say that this is a dog whistle? What's next? Accusing the government of doing their version of the famous “Ein Volk ein Reich ein Fuhrer!” slogan.

(cut to video)
US DOL Spokeswoman: From the US Department of Labor. A message, “One homeland, one people, one heritage.“

(cut to studio)
BTC: Well, you know what they say. Imitation is the sincerest form of racism.

But DHS's Trish McLaughlin is happy to explain how these examples aren't at all indicative of what the world is watching with regard to ICE recruitment and ICE tactics in Minnesota.

(cut to video)
Trish McLaughlin: The fact that they people would like to cherry-pick something of white nationalism to make some sort of connection to DHS law enforcement. Well, it's no wonder we're seeing such vast rampant assaults against our law enforcement. It's no wonder Secretary Noem is facing so many threats against her life. I am Tom Homan across the board is because of garbage like this.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Are people really cherry-picking though? Because I feel like cherry-picking would mean that things like this are hard to find.

(cut to video of 2020 debate)
Trump: Proud Boys, stand back and stand by.

(cut to video displaying image of Elon Musk’s message on X)
PBS News Reporter: Trump supporter and billionaire Elon Musk wrote 100 above this message on X, which read in part, "If white men become a minority, we will be slaughtered. White solidarity is the only way to survive." That's known as the Great Replacement Theory, popular in white nationalist circles that falsely claims the white population is being intentionally replaced by non-whites.

(cut to video from Newsnation)
JD Vance: In the United States of America, you don't have to apologize for being white anymore.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Yeah, not quite sure it counts as cherry-picking when they're just yelling it clear as day into a microphone inside of a full arena and then broadcasting it to the entire world.

Donald Trump, who desperately wants to be seen as a peacemaker, is trying to take a giant tube of white out to the fabric of America by overrunning cities like Minneapolis with overly aggressive, violent ICE agents, many of whom think like him and hear that dog whistle loud and clear. And Democrats have been sounding the alarm clearly and plainly for years. But some people just can't hear their message.

(cut to video from Newsmax)
Nancy Mace: They say they're the party of women's rights and they want men to compete against women in sports and they they're okay with illegal aliens raping and murdering our women and and daughters. You know, it's just uh it's scary and it's going to be up to the Democrat party to stop this.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Unless I missed it, I don't recall any section of the DNC platform being we are for illegal aliens raping and murdering your women and daughters. Democrats aren't always the best at messaging, but I'm pretty sure we would have edited that piece of copy.

It is almost impossible to look at the horrific videos coming out of Minnesota and come to any other conclusion than we need law enforcement officials to rethink what the fuck it is that they're doing on a daily basis. Well, almost impossible.

(cut to video)
Hannity: Federal officials have come under attack. Well, thanks in part to Governor Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and other far-left Democrats who are literally and have been fanning the flames of unrest.

(cut to video from Meet the Press)
Tom Homan: We got to stop the hateful rhetoric. Saying this officer is a murderer is is dangerous. It It's just ridiculous. It's just going to and it's going to infuriate people more, which means there's going to be more incidents like this because the hateful rhetoric is not only continuing, now it's tripled down and doubled down.

(cut to studio)
BTC: It's not the rhetoric that is doubling down. It is the military-style policing that's doubling down. Words are not tackling residents. Words are not demanding their papers. And words are not shooting moms in the face. Not since the KFC Double Down has doubling down been so detrimental to our nation.

If you are focused on policing language over terrible policing, your priorities are way off. The GOP is so busy clutching their pearls over rhetoric and people referring to ICE agents in Minnesota as the Gestapo. But well, I think this exchange sums it up quite nicely.

(cut to video from CNN, BTC Is a guest)
Katie Zacharia: If we had Tim Walz not calling them the Gestapo, that would de-escalate a situation. if they knew they didn't have to go into this marijuana farm right up the road in California and not have people coming after them and not be on the defensive. If these people would walk out and say, "Here are our papers or here not or I'm going to surrender--I'm here illegally, and are told by Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass and other governors. This would de-escalate the situation.”

BTC: If you don't want to be called the Gestapo, do not shoot unarmed moms of three in their cars.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Wow. Not sure who that was, but uh give that guy a raise or at least a free degree from Harvard.

This administration and all of their allies in the white supremacy movement want to talk about having their home again. But guess what? That is a fictitious place. There's no all-white America where every female brings Dear Leader gifts that he was robbed of and every male gallops across some gorgeous woke-free Ansel Adams landscape on his way to the high-paying job at the iPhone making factory.

What we are witnessing is the same racist xenophobic tactics that have been on display for centuries by authoritarian regimes looking to rewrite history. And to accomplish their goal, they trot out spokespeople to echo their hateful rhetoric under the guise of so-called patriotism. These people should be fired, excommunicated from civil society, and forced to deliver an apology to America as a whole.

(cut to video)
JD Vance: In the United States of America, you don't have to apologize for being white anymore.

(cut to studio)
BTC: You know what? I won't hold my breath.

Lengthey, but makes life so much easier to read in 1-2 minutes, instead of having to watch 30 independent news videos posted to DU that take 15 minutes to learn it's bait and switch title, or takes too long to say nothing. Not to mention the MTN titles are bait-switch out of control.

Even video summaries are better than posting just a YouTube video with no context.

Thanks OP!
