Let's talk about Trump's war and apathy about American troops.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump's war and apathy about American troops.

Speaker of the House Johnson came out of the War Powers vote and said, "We're not at war. We have no intention. We have no intention at being at war. The President and the Department of Defense have made it very clear this is a limited operation.”

I'm sorry. The Department of what? I thought Republicans like to call it something else. War. A state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state. Seems like a war to me, Speaker. I'm sure it seems like a war to those getting hit with drones and missiles.

Trump was recently asked about whether Americans should be prepared for potential Iranian backed attacks on US home soil and he said, “I guess, but I think they're worried about that all the time. We think about it all the time. We plan for it. But yeah, you know, we expect some things. Like I said, some people will die. When you go to war, some people will die.”

When you go to what? War. Some people will die. But that's a sacrifice he's willing to make to distract from his failing economy, failed policies, and failed attempt to stop the release of the Epstein files. Imagine how committed to making the president look bad you have to be to get hit by a missile for it?

The public apathy shown when it comes to the loss of Americans by a US president is unprecedented. Past presidents may have felt the exact same way, but they did not show it in public. This comes on the heels of Hegseth addressing US casualties and saying, "But when a few drones get through or tragic things happen, it's front page news. I get it. The press only wants to make the president look bad, but try for once to report the reality. The terms of this war will be set by us.”

I'm sorry. The terms of what? But the quote also shows the way the administration views casualties for their elective war. They're a PR problem and nothing more. They're events that need to be managed. They're just another scandal to be managed. They’re headlines to be knocked out of the news cycle.

It seems like Trump might have learned something from watching TV during the Vietnam War. When the American people know the cost of the military adventures the country undertakes, they are less likely to support it. Given the nature of the administration and its history of misrepresenting events and seeing how the administration has made it clear they want to keep the realities of their elective war out of the headlines, there is no reason to assume the administration is telling the truth about the developments, especially if they put boots on the ground.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.

I’ve never heard another American president talk that way. And I’m betting that when these guys joined the Iowa National Guard, it wasn’t to fight a war of choice for Trump in the Middle East.
