by a Republican most likely, so what does it matter if he is removed as incapable of fulfilling his office?

There must be some reason for the secrecy, but what is it?

At least to me. If he dies now, a special election is held. If he lasts until 3 months until a regular election, the Kentucky lege picks a replacement, which will be a Republican.

It occurred to me that in order to get enough votes for Trump's SAVE act, they might try to claim that McConnell told his staff to place his vote for him.

But now that it is known that he has been unconscious for 3 weeks ever since going to the hospital, it isn't possible for them to pull thar off. If staff claimed that he was conscious long enough to tell them his vote, Senate Dems would demand proof.

Or is it not possible to cast a vote from the hospital? Do Senators have to be present to vote?

and people can be on it for only a limited time, the worse their expose organized crime (AKA the present GOP_ and its torture of an old man in an ICU long after hope was gone just to cheat their way back into his Senatehttps://www.democraticunderground.com/132212062 seat.overall condition is determines just how limited that time is, along with the specific disease process that landed them there.

Once he does die, you can bet your ass someone will talk.

Folks as old as Mitch, found unconscious by medics, rarely survive. With all the secrecy surrounding this event, my semi-educated guess is some sort of cardiac event and he is on life support. He’s pretty much done and won’t be back in the Senate.

be able to subvert the selection of SC justices. He will never again lead the Senate into acquitting Trump of charges. He will never again be able to promote bills that harm the general public

There are others who would do those things now, but we are at least forever rid of one of the worst of them.
