NATO requirements, not because of Trump's stupid threats. It was done before. Yeah we hate Trump and we have real concerns but let's not think that everything we do is in response to Trump's threats. Calls for Trudeau to step down, Freeland's resignation etc are not in response to Trump but rather internal politics. Canada is also increasing their naval presence in the Canadian Arctic which is also part of the 2% NATO but is just now coming to fruition. It should have been done years ago, before Trump even considered running, but was put off far too long.
