Like when Andy made him a deputy to impress his visiting brother (who, as it turns out, was also a drunk) and the time when his ancestor was honored as a war hero. I'm very familiar with Andy Griffith since it was my mother's favorite show.

A lot of TV shows have "widowed" stars since they can have cute kids (Opie), but also have entertaining "romances..."
