What about billboards?

Since Dem leaders aren't speaking up much, what about buying billboards with some comments against Musk and rumpy? I know they are expensive, but you could rotate them around the red states and maybe get some anti-rump votes.

They aren't all that expensive. I looked up prices in my area. They range $1,500 to $3,500/month.

Here are some of my thoughts.

A few simple words, and perhaps an image. A website listed that directs people to more information. Eg: When it is about Musk - direct them to a website that has all the articles about what he and his band of computer hacker "bros" are doing at Treasuty. Other malfeasances (possible crimes) that involve Musk include the take over at OPM; the disbanding of USAID, and the repercussions for global health and security; there is more in the works.

Other topics to cover include what is going on at the FBI; the firing of the IG's: ; the funding freeze at OMB; the Cabinet Secretaries who are a danger to our security and our Democracy.

I don't know how to build out a website, but I have some ideas for content.

I have some ideas for "catchy" domain names.

I was wondering how we could "fundraise". I could probably rally a few friend to contribute. Should we do it locally or create a better method or clearinghouse?

I think we should not limit the billboards to "red" states. I live in New England, and there a lot of uninformed and misinformed people everywhere.

Maybe people could identify strategic locations - somewhere where the traffic isn't traveling too fast...or too congested to read. But, places that are well traveled.

I engaged in a couple of posts with others who showed interest. I will go look for them in my DU journal. I communicated with someone earlier who was making a protest sign that I thought would be a great billboard.

I would be happy to collaborate. I have been trying to figure out how I can help to save our democracy. I have been doing what I can from my computer and my phone. You have been on DU much longer than me. How do we proceed from here, in order to move this idea forward?

Thank you for putting this out there.

UPDATE: I just read a couple of other replies. I express my humble opinion, because I have given this a lot of thought. I think the messages on billboards should stay away from meme type content and vitriole. They need to be simple and matter of fact, and not antagonistic. The message needs to be compelling and inviting, so that the misinformed will want to know more.

to make money by turning your car into a billboard. You put a temporary vinyl sign on it, go about your business, and then many people would see it as you travel.

The cost would be to have the sign made. Of course, it would be risky, but you could remove the sign and put it in your trunk when you get to where you're going.

but, it should be something that can be removed when you leave the car. That way, MAGA won't be prompted to key your car or slash your tires.

This isn't for the faint of heart. For some reason, here in America people want to hold on to their dictators.

I like the Baby trump balloon. That was funny. Maybe have a parade where balloons illustrate trump's failings.

Another thing which is popular is projections on the sides of buildings. I don't know very much about that, but it also could be doable without a huge expense. Or, relatively so.

with billboards would be a mini mobile billboard. A digital billboard that you could program with content. You could put a camera on it to catch anyone that messed with you. Call the police for extreme trouble and then be sweet as honey as you tell the cops all about your campaign. Why trump is a bad dude, OR, why the Dems are the way to go.

I could picture myself driving around with my fur family, getting pupachino cups and listening to music as we spread the word with a long drive through town. PSA: never leave your pets in the car alone. If you get out, they get out.
