The Way Forward
Related: About this forumI thnk Paul Begala's got a good idea.
He advocates focusing on gas, rent and groceries. That's what got Trump elected, and now he's just distracting, distracting, distracting.

(17,387 posts)SM in over a week. He assured me Donvict would get it under control and just needed more time to get Bidenomics under control. They will eventually see. Gas up 30¢ since last week. Eggs at Aldi were $3.99 a week and a half ago. Today they were $6.19

(1,281 posts)Each day, folks can post local prices on gas... Post high + low rental prices... Post local prices on a defined list of groceries: Milk, bread, butter, eggs, coffee, tea, sugar, flour, 1 lb ground beef, 1 lb chicken breasts or thighs or drumsticks or wings... Can you even buy bacon by the pound any more??? Maybe snack food... Maybe Diet Coke (F47's fav)??? Maybe household staples: toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent, laundry soap... Pet food???
Cheetolini had a table full of foodstuffs at one press conference last year... Maybe compare to that???

These posts will be facts that folks can see + compare + share -- the ups + the downs, the good + bad... We need to able to separate the wheat from F47's chaff. The truth will set us free...

(5,742 posts)Our challenge is participation and consistency. Will Americans forgo eating out, high end groceries, eat dried beans and rice, local vegetables, drive considerably less period, make their rent and house payments late month after month.
We have so far showed that making the required sacrifices to provide a livable world for next generations is a non starter. Will Americans do what is required to save their own freedoms?

(1,973 posts)OK, great. He won't. The President can't do much about them. He can avoid making things worse but that's hopefully a given for the next Democratic President.
But the next Democratic President won't be able to do much, either........so unless we're willing to do what Trump did (and does) which is to promise what we can't deliver it doesn't seem like a winning message.
Need to think bigger.
