while others come spoiling for a fight or deliberately try to stir up shit, and everything in between. Some members are on a tremendous ego trip and others are self effacing to a fault.

Just as in real life, I know who I like to hang out with and who I can learn from (and the two categories do often overlap!). I try not to take it personally when somebody comes out of nowhere to give me a hard time — or, worse, ignores me!! I know I’ll never get invited to sit at the Cool Kids’ table, and that’s ok. I like the dorks and misfits better anyway. They’re my tribe.

And I try not to worry too much when my post is the one that kills a thread (a particular talent of mine, apparently!) or when my fabulous, laboriously crafted OP gets 4 Recs and withers in minutes (that’s my other talent!).

I share your puzzlement about those who never have a kind word to say and don’t seem to be here to promote the greater good. But, just as in real life, they don’t get under my skin for long because there’s plenty else that’s positive that I’d rather focus on.

I don’t fault you for your post(s) on this topic, though. You’ve brought up a little-spoken truth that’s worthy of attention.
