The Brief

A Jasper County sheriff's deputy fatally shot 42-year-old Matthew W. Huttle during a traffic stop in northwest Indiana on Sunday after an altercation in which Huttle reportedly resisted arrest and was armed.
Huttle, previously charged and imprisoned for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, Capitol breach, was identified as the suspect in the incident.
The Indiana State Police are investigating the shooting, and the involved deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave.
