3. I discovered Krugman during the BushCheney admin, & I found him a voice of intelligence & sanity...

Importantly, he was the first economist I was not only able to fully understand, but agree with. The man is a liberal. He’s not a good public speaker — he’s very nervous in tv interviews — but he is a brilliant writer.

I was able to read his columns without subscribing to the NYT because an admirer of his was republishing them at his own site. Alas, this was eventually shut down — and I sorely missed reading Krugman.

I’m happy that he’s going his own way, since NYT clearly became toxic, and is joining up with other journalists at The Contrarian substack. I don’t know the Substack world, but since so many good journalists have headed there…
