John Roberts is shocked--shocked!--to learn that the rule of law is endangered.

As the nation reels from Trump's attempt to accept a $400 million personal “gift” from Qatar, the Chief Justice expressed concern that the rule of law is “endangered.” No kidding! What did John Roberts expect?

Roberts, of course, authored the opinion that ensured “presidents are above the law” by immunizing them from criminal liability. Roberts’ opinion in Trump v. US propelled the nation into the waiting arms of a constitutional crisis provoked by a president free to ignore the criminal laws of the United States. Rather than examining his role in creating the lawless reign of Trump's second term, Roberts blamed schools, claiming that their civics curricula are deficient. If true, the high school that produced John Roberts should hold an emergency meeting to discuss where its civics curriculum failed the nation.
