We are done with the scared Karens. Protest is not about winning allies. It never was. It’s about galvanizing the resistance and discomforting the comfortable. It’s about engaging some thinking about why people would take those risks. Think the Boston Tea Party was about making friends? The lunch counter protests? The suffragettes disrupting… dinner? Stonewall? The labor struggles? Resistance at every RNC?
This is your opportunity to engage with the many successful struggles of the past that were not all that “civil,” but were ultimately successful. Your personal discomfort with a protestor’s message only begs the question about who you are willing to stand with, when you are most needed.
