Biden Warns About 'Dark Days' Under Trump Administration: 'Get Ready, Folks, This Is Just Starting'

21. Biden failed

I liked Biden as president. I voted for him twice, and until Trump's re-election, I considered him the best president of my lifetime. Granted, that was a pretty low bar because we have so many terrible presidents over the last sixty years.

Nonetheless, I have to consider his presidency an abject failure because he did not succeed in saving our democracy from this authoritarian nightmare we are living through now.

Besides the Merrick Garland fuck-up, his debate performance stands out as the key moment when he failed to convey the existential threat to our democracy that Trump represented. Biden should not have been polite, nor wasted time talking about golf or trivial policy issues. He probably shouldn't have even agreed to debate an obvious fascist demagogue hell-bent on destroying everything sacred and precious in our country.
