(12,898 posts)...the passage of universal health care, a completely reformed tax system that actually asks those who benefit most from a strong public and private sector to contribute the most to ensuring the well-being of everyone with whom we share this nation, sweeping immigration reform that we've desperately needed for decades, completely reformed programs that provide essential building blocks that enable people to escape poverty and truly thrive, basic income to guarantee a level of human dignity in an economy in upheaval with the consequences of AI, and more.
Our government and economy has failed to serve all Americans for decades. On that, MAGA and non-MAGA from across the political spectrum agree. The nightmare of our present has made it clear that the seemingly insurmountable gap between the few haves and the many havenots is not only intolerably immoral, it is incredibly dangerous and utterly unsustainable.
Perhaps the example of an engaged and angry public standing against the trumpublican insanity will inspire a renewal of citizen engagement to such a level that we actually achieve meaningful change that moves us leaps and bounds down the path to a more perfect union.
The bottom line is that NOBODY knows what the future holds.
