43. Before the 80's

the Federal Trade Commission had true power to enforce laws like False, or even "misleading' advertising......and they used it.
Corporations truly feared the FTC and adhered to rules and guidelines. Corporations like Campbells Soup, Zales Jewlers, Duncan Hines, etc etc who all got hammered...........
Then the FTC and Consumer Protection Groups got not just castrated, but emasculated by the Corporate Loving Republicans under Reagan, with him leading the charge......."Corporations will police themselves!!!!!"
Now it is the wild west as far as advertising, and deceptive trade practices........I see print ads and TV ads that are flagrant false advertising, with many of the other regulations trampled all over.......
I think it is a fair statement that the Republican Politicians are the best politcians, corporate money can, and has bought.

I suspect that we will soon see: The United States of America, with a new title: The United Corporations of America.....
The simplest textbook definition of FASCISM......is the merger of Corporations and Government.....

I could go on and on, about the Extreme Damages that the Reagan years, under HWBush's CABAL, have done to the middle and lower classes, that are still being seen today.......The massive tax cuts to the Upper Class, the huge increases in taxes to the middle and lower classes, removal of tax deductions for the middle class, outrageous increases in the allowable interest (usury) rates...............The list is endless.........
