I've seen it claimed many times that there is this vast pool of far left voters just waiting to be activated. But is there any evidence that that is the case?

My understanding was that was the theory Jasmine Crockett was running on, but she didn't even win the Democratic primary.

Seems like it should be easy to test though. Take some of these "safe" Republican seats and run someone way to the left. If the theory is true, we should see the candidates at least overperform expectations or other recent candidates.

And even if this pool of voters does exist, part of me wants to say "fuck 'em" if they still can't see the difference between the parties.
