His sentiments were shared by self-identified ANTIFA member Tyler Charles Gardiner, 29, of Captain Cook, who wore all-black and a face covering and opted to attend the Hilo protest instead of the Kona one because the latter wouldve been too hot.
We fought Nazis back when they took over Germany, Gardiner said, and well fight them here, too.
He said that a sense of empowerment, and a commitment to peaceful protest, motivated him to attend the rally.
I want to oppose Trump in the most peaceful way possible and tell him that we are sick of him and theres more of us than him, and he just needs to go, he said. It feels empowering, and it makes me feel like we are gonna make a difference finally. People are starting to wake up, theyre starting to realize he has lied to us, everything that he has said is not true and just a cover-up for his own terroristic crimes.
