I don't actually think it will be as bad as many. But I also think it will take a lot less disruption to really fuck things up than people realize. A few million jobs would really put the economic system in a bad way. With the approaching demographic bomb coming, we can't afford to have a whole generation underemployed.
I also think that the development in humanoid robots along side AI will go a long way towards determining the outcome. If they can make competent physical analogs to go with the mental analogs I think it exponentially increases the ability to supplant humans from jobs. They have a ways to go with that but I also noted that there have been advances lately that sure have moved the needle.
