Along with the push for oil they install military bases in the country just to remind the leaders of those countries who is calling the shots.
Our military bases in the ME aren't there to keep us safe in America, they are there to keep our oil safe. One of the main reasons for Bin Laden's attack was our military bases.

Iran would never cooperate with the US.
