19. Yes, he could be very funny and insightful

He had some annoying quirks that rubbed people the wrong way, but often he said out loud the things many would not and he frequently spoke truth to power in commendable ways.

Then came the pandemic and lockdowns. I don't know if Maher changed or if he became more the person he really was all along, but he became more obnoxious as time passed. Personally, I think he is facing growing old and is not handling it gracefully. That said, I really don't understand why he still has a show.
