a party in the front yard. One of her neighbors had SS tattoos on his neck. When I had a
chance to get my niece alone I asked her about his tats, and neither she nor her husband
had any idea about what I was talking about. So, I talked to the guy in a "Gee, those are
interesting tats, where did you get the idea from". The story was he saw them in a picture;
thought they looked cool, so he had a friend slap them on. I asked him if he knew anything
about their original purpose and he gave me the deer stuck in headlights look. I did not
bother to waste my time trying to explain what our history classes should be teaching. As
far as I could tell, the guy was a pretty decent person who was trying to live his life in a way
that he understood.
I am not going to judge somebody on things until I have a pretty good idea where they are
coming from. I have made enough knuckle headed mistakes that if you applied the if I had
a nickel for every mistake I would have retired long ago.
That is my simple point of view, but since I do not live in Maine it is not my problem. I hope
the good people of Maine make the best decision between the choices they have. They know
who Susan "I think he has learned his lesson" Collins is. For me it is a choice between the same
old same old or take a chance on something no matter how you look at is different, with the
understanding I can change that six years down the road if it does not work out.
