I tend to think that he doesn't have such ulterior motives to keep the war going. I believe the war will keep going simply because the only way to end it is to suck up the loss. And he's incapable of that.

Remember the outtakes from his speech on Jan 7 2021? When he read the line "the election is over" his response was something like "I can't say that." The thing is, for once in his life he was telling the truth. Admitting defeat is literally impossible for him. He can't do it.
