He wasn't arrested for protesting. He was arrested for protesting while in uniform. Had I done the same thing when I was in the Army during the Carter Administration, I would have been arrested, too. It is something every service member knows -or should know. You don't do public politics in uniform.

Further, the fact that he is under base confinement isn't shocking, either. Service members don't retain all the same Rights as civilians. There are many, many good reasons for that.
