Trump has mentioned for years now - how one of his greatest fears was to become a '"modern" Herbert Hoover, a failed president, who helped to author in the Great Depression. So here is donald, just barely into his new "presidency" and he is doing everything in his power to actually emulate Herbert Hoover - it's almost as if he doesn't know any history at all or any of the decisions Hoover's profoundly failed "presidency" made to encourage The Great Depression.

Herbert Hoover's time in the Oval during the Great Depression is often criticized for his policies, including his reluctance to use federal funds for direct relief, his support for the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, (significantly raised tariffs on over 20,000 imported goods in an effort to shield American industries from foreign competition during the onset of the Great Depression, which began in 1929) and which many historians argue deepened the economic downturn of the world.
