In reply to the discussion: Gretchen Whitmer goes to Washington with a call for bipartisanship to grow the economy [View all]Cirsium

OMG!! What if the Republicans say we were rigidly obstructionist and unwilling to compromise? Then what will we do??
Our most important concern must always be what the Republicans might say about us. We must at all times act in such a way that they can't criticize us.
Remember how rigidly obstructionist and unwilling to compromise Lincoln was with the Confederacy? Then the Confederate leaders criticized him, so he looked for common ground and that is why we still have slavery.
I think it is time to be rigidly obstructionist and unwilling to compromise if there ever was such a time.

Are you fucking kidding me? A 10% across the board tariff is a horrifically regressive tax that stunts trade.

Excellent summary on tariffs. They can be useful if targeted and implemented correctly

Just like his ideas to inject disinfectant and take ivermectin for Covid turned out to be jeenyus?

Bullshit. 10% across the board tariffs put us far outside the mainstream of 1-3% tariffs most countries impose.

It's not about tariffs, it is about siding with Trump on any of his evil schemes.

No DUer said Whitmer and Newsom were "wackos," they just disagree with their strategy.

I admire Newsom and Whitmer, but her appearance today with Trump was a huge mistake.
