4. Accountability isn't a priority. Never has been.

I heard all kinds of rhetoric after Trump's first term about his being an existential threat to Democracy. When the power was in the hands of Democrats who had a majority in both houses and the white house between 2021 and 2023, justice wasn't a priority. We got an infrastructure bill and an inflation bill, and some other necessary and good things. But bringing Trump to justice was not anywhere close to the priority that was hinted at by all of the rhetoric of "existential threat to Democracy." If he was that, and they believed it, he'd have been eliminated as such when they had the power to do it.

Instead we had milquetoast Merrick as attorney general, a foot dragging mediocrity who got the position as a consolation prize. We got a rousing, evidence-packed, highly publicized Congressional investigation delivering a mountain of evidence and then................................

David Hogg has a good thing going over at Leaders We Deserve. That's my way of holding feet to the fire, to elect Democrats who are not afraid to be bold, take risks and use their power to end this nightmare. Seems to be working as the primaries move forward.

As an Illinois voter, I was happy to see a little bit of fire from Dick Durbin this past week. It's about time.
