in making a choice of actors. The right thing to do.
Whatever interview I saw, it said Richard couldn't get his language by the censors, which is plausible so they went with Cleavon, and it all worked great anyway.

I remember the next year we had it on cable HBO and used to watch it all the time, this was before VCRs
