GLP-1 Medication for weight loss, i.e., Wegovy or Zepbound [View all]
Anyone here taking a GLP-1 medication to lose weight? My recent body scan was horrific and as hard as I've tried I can't seem to lose any body fat/weight. At one point I was doing crossfit 6 days a week at one place and doing 3 classes with a personal trainer at another.....and no I didn't gain muscle but didn't lose fat/wt either.
My insurance won't cover these meds and I can't get the savings cards or other assistance, so this is out of pocket. I had thought about trying like RO, Noom or Weight Watchers as they have their own compounded meds, but just read yesterday that come May of this year, the FDA is banning all these knock off which will require everyone to transition to the more expensive options.
One doctor told me if I do this, plan on staying on it for life as those that stop seem to regain most of what they lost. The key for maintenance is to find the right dose when you reach goal to prevent regaining so only take as little as possible at that point and continue to exercise.
I'm tired of feeling like a failure and having to "diet' all my life. I'm now 71 years old and still watch everything I put in my mouth and continue to gain. I'm very uncomfortable in this body and need to be less of me.....sigh
Anyway, wondered if others here are taking these meds to lose weight and to get some feedback on any side effects. Lilly is now offering discounts if you by direct from them, which I think I can afford.
TIA
