Depending on what you're printing. PLA is cheap corn plastic and that prints fine no matter what but there's this stuff called PETG that is stronger but... you have to print it on a higher temp. This is also fine without putting it in a closet... but the ABS, which is very strong, it dries out while printing and it looks terrible... if it prints at all.
These are the lovely things you learn by trial and error 🤣
So, no, you don't need anything... just even a cheap handheld printer and you're good to go...
that's the point... don't be afraid to fail.

In-ground pool. I'd let the alligators take over and wouldn't be able to swim in it anyway.
