The US military owns some stunning pieces of real estate -- believe it or not, Dept of Defense really does take care of its real estate.

I probably have most of this wrong, but -- the Presidio of San Francisco is an old fortress area that guarded the entrance to San Francisco Bay. When DoD declared it surplus, the City of San Francisco nearly lost their minds -- it is a beautiful, peaceful, scenic spot. SF did not want the place sold to "developers" who would no doubt fuck it up with condos, etc. So the Presidio Trust was born to preserve this rare, irreplaceable piece of history.

And now it will be the site of Trump Tower West -- and condos owned by Russians. Count on it.
