When the working careers of people drops from 40-50 years down to 25-35 years it will be impossible for society to provide for the large masses of people that are unemployed or in poor health. If people don't have the economic independence, good health or a family structure (which is also a problem) then there is a certain aspect of cruelty to expect people to live in poverty or homelessness. Even for those that have a family structure to provide a reason to stay alive it also places a burden on the family.
