In addition to his life insurance I am certain the Navy paid my mother and father some sort of settlement.

I know they used some of the money to pay of their house and a little bit was put away for retirement... a large chunk went to fund a scholarship for the university he had attended.

I got a car to go to college with... not a new car but it was a good used car.

I hated that car.
