5. I went ahead and marked my mail-in ballot anyway.

My guess is that the SoS or county elections supervisor will find a reason to toss my ballot, like not properly sealing the inner "envelope" which is only a sheet of paper with no seal. I used tape to seal min, even though the ballot doesn't completely fit in the inner "envelope."
