2. The military sent me to Illinois 20 years ago, I'm still here

And I bought a house when I decided to settle here.

Previously I was stationed in Western NY and California, so when people around me in corn country bitch about taxes, I shake my head - They don't know taxes

Fucking every where I've been stationed stateside has higher income taxes - hell even Kentucky has higher income taxes, and it taxes military retirement as well...

But property taxes are crazy high for non-farm holdings and because of that, the perception is that Illinois is a very high tax state.

He would silence a boatload of grumbling if he can address property taxes
