Results: Special election in Salina to repeal ban on pit bulls [View all]

Salina voters were required to turn in their ballots by noon Tuesday in the special election to decide if the City of Salina should repeal its 22-year-old ordinance banning pit bulls.

The unofficial vote total for keeping the Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) pitbull ban 5,329 and for repealing the ban 4,123, according to the Saline County Election office. The ban will stay in place.

The provisional ballots will be counted on Monday, March 2 at 9:00 am and there are about 270.

Part of the provisional ballots include voters who may have forgotten to sign the ballot. Saline County Clerk, Jamie Doss stated she encourages those who are apart of that to come to the Saline County Election office (300 W. Ash) before March 2nd.
