4. In 2012 Minnesota voters defeated a Constitutional Amendment that would have required ID to vote

Currently the DFL controls the governorship and the state House of representantives. One state senator recently resigned to run for Congress so the state Senate is tied. But the legislature doesn't meet again until next January.

The governor is not up for re-election this year. Come November we will need to win the one Senate race & hold on to the House. As of now I don't see voter ID having much of a chance here for several years.

And, we have same day registration & make that as easy as possible. A photo ID is required, but a wide variety is accepted & it can be expired if you can also produce a current utility bill proving your residence.
