It happens even with the best unions.

My dad was UAW. Worked 31.5 years for a company in detroit. He left and he had health insurance and a good pension. A few years later they took his health benefits away saying it was just that one contract year that they have to screw over and gosh if he hadn't left that year he'd be fine.

My dad had a good job all that time and a big reason for that was the UAW.. it's such a shame that they completely screwed him over at the end.
