My parents were both teachers for a combined 80.years. both of them told stories of parents defending their children after misbehavior, failing grades and general teenage shittiness. The typical response of not my child, you're a terrible teacher, my child is perfect was far too common. I remember when I was a junior and a senior was caught handing out drugs and alcohol during a lock in. This was not the first incident and he was expelled. This was a private school. The parents sued even though they had no case what so ever.

It is largely they both retired early and took a lower pension.

In contrast, my mother discovered what a lazy shit I was during my sophomore year. I was grounded for three months... no TV, video games and phone.
