It became known that Rick “Frothy” Santorum opposed abortion even in case of rape - which was a truly radical opinion back then (how times have changed ). He was handily defeated that year thanks to a brilliant ad campaign that declared he was “too extreme for Pennsylvania.” It’ll work again.
