1. I don't know about SC, but in California, a conservator petition will require a court investigator

to interview the proposed conservatee, and examine that person's living conditions, medical needs, etc. In general, the court may appoint an attorney to represent the proposed conservatee's interests. Also, a conservatorship petition can request either conservatorship of the person, or of the finances, or both. The focus of the investigation is to determine the conservatee's competence to care for themselves.
