than their native-born counterparts. They’re aware of their immigration status and are aware that their chances of getting noticed by the authorities go way up if they commit drug or property crimes or get violent. Getting noticed not only gets them jailed but as likely or not gets them deported, too.

Makes sense to me, even if your average MAGA Magoo can’t draw the lines.
