2. Federal ridings are the same as Districts in the US...

they are also known as 'Electoral Districts' or 'constituencies' and work the same as Districts in the US in a federal election. Each riding elects one representative (Member of Parliament) to serve in the House of Parliament which is similar to the House of Representatives.
